ABOUT THE EXPERIENCE
Spend 3 days cycling along parts of the Danube on guided routes. (6 days including travel days), with an afternoon and the next morning in Vienna to explore.
Not about speed, this is about enjoying the enviroment and experiencing the fantastic Austrian culture as we cycle (Approx. 60/80 miles per day), this relaxing cycle is also about the stunning surroundings, we will ride for approx. two hours before stopping for either coffee or lunch and enjoy a relaxing late afternoon followed by an evening of food and wine.
Once fiercely contested because of its importance as a corridor between East and West, the Danube Valley today is gloriously tranquil. The glut of imposing fortresses and chateau's, as well as many monasteries and abbeys, is testimony to those ancient struggles and is concentrated to most dramatic effect in the Wachau region.
Along this winding, 40-kilometre stretch of the river, considered by many to be the most picturesque section of the Danube, you find wine-producing villages and distinctive, pastel-coloured houses clinging to hills clad with vineyards, forests and apricot orchards.
APPROXIMATE ITINERARY
THE FOLLOWING IS AN APPROXIMATION OF OUR DAYS IN THE SADDLE
- Day 1: Arrive in Salzburg and make your way to the hotel. (Wed 2nd July) (2025)
- Day 2: Cycle route starts towards Efferding and our first stop, aiming to arrive late afternoon (Approx. 120 km or 75 miles) (Climbing 548m)(Thurs 3rd July)
- (This route does not follow the Danube)
- Day 3: Cycle towards Melk along the Danube for another late afternoon arrival.(Approx. 135 km or 84 miles) (Climbing 768m)( Fri 4th July )
- Day 4: Cycle to Vienna (Austria) and our second day following the Danube (Approx. 110 km or 68 miles) (Climbing 862m)( Sat 5th July )
- Day 5: Onward travel (Sun 6th July) (2025)

The initial payment through this webpage is a deposit of £200 (Plus the booking fee) this will then secure your place.
Further payments are due in staged intervals, or you can pay the balance in full.

TRAVEL INFORMATION
It is your responsibility to ensure you are at the start location for this experience.
This is in Salzburg, including with your bike, Velo europe do not organize your travel from your home destination to the start location, although we can assist with transfers from Saltzburg airport to Saltzburg if required.
If there is a need to book flights, ferries or additional travel please contact us BEFORE you do this, the experiences have a limited number of entrants needed for the experience to take place, we will not be held responsible for any additional costs incurred booking these addition travel arrangements.
